Hi Loves! It has been a crazy month for Kagen and I, but I can’t complain because I have loved every minute of it! We just made it back home from our summer trip to Crested Butte, Colorado, which is one of my absolute favorite places. Every year, for the past eight years, my family and I have been traveling to this same mountain for our annual ski trip but just recently we decided to start going in the summer to take full advantage of the beautiful hiking and biking the mountain has to offer.
Crested Butte is one town that holds a very special place in my heart. Besides its obvious beauty and near perfect weather, it is also, the place Kagen and I “officially” started dating! After a couple of months of casually seeing each other, we came across the crazy coincidence that both of our families go to Crested Butte for the Christmas holiday. This small coincidence that some may look over allowed us to spend the whole week skiing with each other while also getting to spend time with each others families. By the end of the week, our moms had become best buds. I am not kidding you, it was going to end up an arranged marriage whether Kagen and I wanted to be together or not. haha! The morning of January first came and, what I thought was going to be just one more day on the mountain before we all headed back home actually turned into the day that would go down in history. While I waited for Kagen to get all buckled up… he is a snowboarder and I am a skier, he asked me to come help him get up. He stands up, gives me a big hug, looks at me, and simply says… “I really like you and I have had a lot of fun skiing with you this week.” I said back… “yeah me too.” Then the simple question “will you be my girlfriend?” came out of his mouth and all I could respond back was “YES!” One more hug and kiss, and down the mountain we went. hah! Yep, it’s simple but it worked, and the rest is history!
As if that wasn’t enough! It’s also where my, now, brother-in-law (Kagen’s younger brother) and sister-in-law got engaged! That picture of my sister-in-law and I, above, is really just us remembering that time she had the most AMAZING proposal on top of that mountain we are staring at!
Lastly, Lexi did go on a hike with us and she actually enjoyed it. haha! I would let her walk until here little legs couldn’t take her any further, and then she would get in her pouch, and fall right asleep.
Let’s just say I am in love/slightly obsessed with the town of Crested Butte Colorado! I hope you enjoyed this crazy long post, let me know what you think in the comments below!
PS. For all you other crazy dog moms, linked Lexi’s pouch for you!
